As of March 2018, a significant change in British citizens’ US visa requirement was announced. This is a guide to this new change and the changes it will make to your plans for travel.
What is a Visa?
A visa is a document that allows a foreign visitor to enter and stay in a particular country for a specific period of time. A visa can be obtained at the airport before you leave your home country, or it can be obtained at a travel agency or online. The type of visa you need will depend on your nationality and where you are going. AMERICA VISA FOR BRITISH CITIZENS
A visa for British citizens is generally valid for three months, but can be longer if you are travelling to certain countries such as Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, or the United States. You must also have a return ticket and proof of funds. For Singaporean citizens, a visa is generally valid for one year and can be extended indefinitely if you have a job offer or sponsorship from an employer in Singapore. You must also have an employment letter from your sponsor and proof of funds.
Visa requirements for UK citizens
British citizens must have a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the date of their planned departure from the UK. For example, if you plan to leave on January 1, 2019, your passport must be valid until July 1, 2019. Singaporean citizens must have a passport that is valid for at least one year beyond the date of their planned departure from Singapore.
Requirements for Singaporean Citizens
Singaporean citizens are required to have a valid passport and visa to travel to the UK. Citizens of other countries may need a visa if they are not residents of Singapore or if their visit is for work, study, or tourism. A visa is not required for citizens of Brunei, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong SAR China, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea and Switzerland if they hold a valid passport from their respective countries. How to Apply for a Visa and the typical waiting time
If you are a British or Singaporean citizen planning on travelling to the United States, you will need to apply for a visa. The process of applying for a visa can be complex and time-consuming, but fortunately there are some steps that you can take to speed up the process.
To apply for a US visa, you will first need to submit an application form to the US consulate or embassy in your home country. The form will require information such as your name, date of birth, citizenship status, and passport number. After receiving your application form, the consulate or embassy will begin processing it. Processing time varies depending on the consulate or embassy, but it is typically around six weeks.
Once your application has been processed, you will be notified of the decision by either mail or email. If your application is approved, you will then be required to attend an interview at a US consulate or embassy. At this interview, you will be asked questions about your travel plans and must provide proof that you have valid travel documents. If your application is denied, you can reapply after waiting the applicable visa processing time.
The typical waiting time for a US visa is six months, but this timeframe can vary depending on how busy the consulate or embassy is at that particular time. In general, however, applying for a US visa is not difficult and should only take a few weeks from start to finish if all of the required documentation is provided.
