INDIAN VISA DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS India has specific rules and requirements when it comes to the documents you’ll need to submit with your visa application, whether you’re traveling as a tourist or immigrating to the country. For more information on INDIAN VISA PHOTO REQUIREMENTS, see below.
Required Documents
Indian citizens traveling with family members must have their passports in the original. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months after completion of the visit along with a visa extension stamp. To avail Tourist visa, Indian visitors must submit these documents: A passport issued by a recognized Government and with a minimum validity of six months beyond your intended stay, and a completed application form. Valid visas for any other country for which you need a transit pass, return ticket, or onward passage tickets (unless arriving on foot or by sea). Two photographs- one to be affixed to your passport on arrival in India; another attached to the application form. Credit cards/ debit cards or cash totaling $500/£500 or equivalent foreign currency per person are also mandatory as a proof of economic solvency.
Passport Size Photographs
When applying for an Indian visa, applicants will be required to submit one passport size photograph. This must be glued or stapled onto their visa application form. Applicants will also need to submit copies of their photos along with any supporting documents that are being mailed to India (e.g., a copy of a marriage certificate). The photos should be full-face color photographs, taken from a frontal angle, within six months of application and no older than two years. Photos must measure 40x30mm in dimensions; larger size photos may also be accepted by Indian consulates around the world but are not guaranteed as they vary on a case-by-case basis. Personal Appearance
Because biometric data (10 fingerprints and a digital facial image) will be collected upon your arrival at an Indian immigration checkpoint, please make sure you have no tattoos on your hands or face. Body art is not acceptable; most Indian immigration officials are sticklers for dress codes as well. It’s best to dress conservatively. Men should wear long pants, collared shirts with sleeves that reach their wrists, and closed-toe shoes; women should wear long skirts or dresses (or a salwar kameez with long sleeves) that go below their knees. No sleeveless shirts, shorts, tank tops, or flip flops. If you don’t already have any of these items in your wardrobe, buy some before you leave home.
Original Passport as Proof of Travel Reservation
To get an Indian visa, you’ll need to provide a valid passport as proof of travel reservation. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your intended date of departure from India. If you are traveling within 10 days, your passport must be valid until at least 30 days after your intended date of departure from India. Your travel reservation will help prove that you plan on leaving India before your visa expires.
Previous Travel History
Your previous travel history is particularly important, so you should list all countries you have traveled to for more than 24 hours in the past 10 years. This applies even if your visits were part of a cruise or a tour. When filling out visa applications, it’s also a good idea to include as much information as possible about all previous employment, including volunteer work and internships. If you hold dual citizenship with another country besides India or Pakistan, be sure to enter both passport numbers when prompted by Indian embassy staff. The application may ask for details on your spouse’s or children’s travel history and other personal information, such as height and weight.
Required Tourist Information
In order to apply for an Indian visa, you will need a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond your departure date. Your passport must also have at least two blank pages. In addition, you will need one or more of: a photocopy of your passport’s biographical page, proof of finances (bank statements), and an invitation letter from an Indian citizen or business that is sponsoring your trip. Finally, you’ll need 2 photos. If you are only visiting India as a tourist, then 1 photo is required; if you are on official business, then 2 photos are required. You can take these photos at home or find stamp vendors throughout India who provides temporary tattoos in order to take a digital picture.
Tips For Successful Application
Like any country, India has its own visa requirements for entry into the country. Your passport will need to be valid at least 6 months after your planned date of departure. Your passport will also need a visa (entry clearance) which can be obtained from an Indian embassy or consulate in your home country before you depart. Check with your local Indian embassy/consulate as they may have specific information regarding individual countries on where visas can be obtained. As well, it is highly advisable that you book a return ticket if at all possible. This shows good faith on your part that you intend to leave India at the end of your visit there.
